THE TROOPS OF DOOM is a Brazilian Death Metal group founded in 2020 by guitarist Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz – former member of SEPULTURA’s original lineup playing author and co-author to classic records such as Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions – alongside bassist/vocalist Alex Kafer, drummer Alexandre Oliveira and guitarist Marcelo Vasco, acclaimed graphic artist for the likes of Slayer, Kreator, Machine Head, Soulfly, Hatebreed among others. The band emerged to revive the classic death/thrash metal of the 1980s, inspired by SEPULTURA's early era with Jairo and other influential bands such as Slayer, Celtic Frost, Kreator and Possessed. It serves as a time machine for those nostalgic for the golden age of death metal. In just two years since its formation, the band has released three EPs: "The Rise Of Heresy" (2020), "The Absence Of Light" (2021) and "Prelude To Blasphemy" (2023), along with their debut album, "Antichrist Reborn", lauded by both fans and music press alike. In 2024 the band is back with their highly anticipated second album, "A Mass To The Grotesque", produced by André Moraes (Sepultura, Lisbela E O Prisioneiro), mixed and mastered by Jim Morris at the legendary Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida, and the cover art painted by the acclaimed artist Dan Seagrave. "A Mass To The Grotesque" is Out Now, available as a limited LP vinyl edition, CD digipack and Cassette, once and again via Alma Mater Records, the Portuguese label run by Moonspell singer Fernando Ribeiro.
